Fajr Film Festival to host veteran actor

The 36th edition of the Fajr Film Festival has picked a movie starring Iranian veteran actor Ali Nasiriyan.

The festival will host Nasiriyan appeared in ‘Emperor of Hell’ directed by Parviz Sheikh-Tadi.

Born in 1935, Nasiriyan began his acting career with theater in 1952. He made his cinematic debut with ‘The Cow’ in 1969, setting foot on the path to becoming one of the most renowned and popular Iranian actors.

He has appeared in numerous movies and series. Among his most notable performances are in the movies ‘Kamal-ol-Molk’, ‘Mirza Nowruz's Shoes’, ‘Captain Khorshid’, ‘Scent of Joseph’s Shirt’, ‘The Silent King’, 'Saturday Hunter', and 'Iran Burger'.

He also played roles in series such as 'Sarbedaran’, ‘Hezar Dastan’, 'The Lost Paradise', 'Neighbors', 'Floating in a Bubble', ‘The Forbidden Fruit’, 'Mankind's Land', and 'Sparrow's Dream'.

In 2002, Nasiriyan was honored as an 'Iranian National Treasure' in Theater and Film.

Established in 1982, the Fajr International Film Festival celebrates cultural exchange, displays creative achievements of highly acclaimed cineastes and pays tribute to local and international films.

Since its establishment, the Fajr International Film Festival has played a vital role in the development of Iranian Cinema.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran and across the world every year.

The 36th edition of the Fajr Film Festival is slated for February 1-11, 2018, in Tehran.
